3. Product Description:

   Basic Use
   The Blow-In-Blanket® System is a patented insulating process through Ark*Seal International using InsulSafe 4 glass fibers. The system blows the insulation into wall cavities covered with netting or IsoMesh® fabric. The system is used in residential and commercial construction for thermal and acoustical instulation. InsulSafe 4 is noncombustible, noncorrosive and odor free. In addition, InsulSafe 4 won't settle, cntains no chemicals to cause mildew and fungus growth, provides no sustenance for vermin, contains no asbestos, won't rot or decay and won't absorb moisture.

   Composition and Materials
   InsulSafe 4 is an unbonded, white, virgin fiber, loose-fill fiber glass insulation designed for pneumatic application.

   Limitations
   This product is designed for use at ambient temperatures in interior (weather protected) locations. Pneumatic equipment, netting are limited to those endorsed by Ark*Seal International and Blow-In-Blanket Contractors Association (BIBCA). The InsulSafe 4 fiber glass product should be kept dry during shipping and storage.

   ASTM C 764, Standard Specification for Mineral Fiber Loose-Fill Thermal Insulation. Complies with ASTM C 764, Standard Specification for Mineral Fiber Loose-Fill Thermal Insulation, as a Type 1 Material.

   Fire Resistance
   InsulSafe 4 Fiber Glass Blowing Insulation used in the Blow-In-Blanket® System meets or exceeds the 25/50 fire hazard classification, tested in accordance with ASTM E84, Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials. These ratings apply to densities from 1.8 to 2.5 pcf.

   Noncombustibility
   Meets criteria of ASTM E 136, Standard Test Method for Behavior of Materials in a Vertical Tube Furnace at 750 degrees Celsius.

   Thermal Resistance
   In accordance with ASTM C 687, Standard Practice for Determination of Thermal Resistance of Loose-Fill Building Insulation. The stated R-values in the BIB System for sidewall application in the Builders Insulation Statement are achieved at weights and coverages specified when insulation is installed with pneumatic equipment in accordance with CertainTeed recommendations.

   Quality Control
   InsulSafe 4 is tested in accordance with ASTM C 687. It is regularly tested by the NAHB Research Center under their certification and labeling program. Also, CertainTeed production facilities are certified to ISO 9002 standards.

5. Installation:

   Installation procedures and techniques must be as recommended by CertainTeed Corporation and Ark*Seal International, using blowing machines approved for use with the BIB System. Only qualified contractors certified by Ark*Seal International may install the Blow-In-Blanket® System with InsulSafe 4.
